This spa came highly recommended on various sites like Spa Finder, Yelp and Trip Advisor. What drew me in on my vacay was the reasonable prices for services which include facials, massages, scrubs, etc. We had the Couple's Retreat, an hour and a half service which gave us a warm oil scalp treatment, Betty's Blissful Massage, and an Herbal Salt Glow for $250 for both of us.
This was not the most glamourous or inviting of spas I have been to. It was pretty bare-boned, but they had the necessary amenities. After checking in, I was taken to the locker room and was given a locker, key, robe and rubber slippers. After changing I had to walk back through the check in area to the waiting area (I would have preferred not to walk through the lobby in my robe). The waiting area had a few small benches tucked into a corner and a giant plastic fern hanging from the ceiling.

We had the first appointment of the morning and the staff entrance was located by the fern/waiting area, so we had to listen to all staff greeting each other and checking in for the day. This was not relaxing and I didn't appreciate it.
We were then greeted by our two massage therapists (MT) who escorted us through the maze-like building to our room. They helped us out of our robes and onto the massage table--which was done professionally, but was still a little weird. The oil used was perfectly warm and wonderful. Betty's has their own brand of products such as soap, shampoo and conditioner and featuring their oil, which had a very delicate floral scent which was not at all overwhelming (non-scented was offered as well). I about died and went to heaven during the scalp treatment. After the oil was applied and massaged in, my hair was wrapped in a warm towel for the rest of the treatment.
We both agreed that the massage was awesome. The MTs were very gifted. I will note, that was the second spa I have been to in Mew Mexico and I noticed that they use A LOT of oil in their massages. Is this a regional thing?
The salt glow was nice. The oil was applied and then the scrub. After the scrub the MTs washed the salt off with the hot towels and then applied hot towels all over and let us rest with those on, which I enjoyed.
After the treatment, we were returned to the locker room to shower. The showers were private, but with glass dividers, so, why bother? I could still see the person next to me.
I used Betty's shampoo and conditioner (which I had a moment of anxiousness about, because I didn't know if they were color safe), they were effective at getting out the oil and left my hair feeling good.
I understand one of the local draws of Betty's is their soaking pools. They have a co-ed pool (suits required) and a women only pool (suits optional) and private hot tubs. I didn't check those out, so I can't comment.
Overall, I like our Betty's experience. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed. If you find yourself in the Albuquerque area and want an affordable spa experience, I highly recommend.
Review from Beth's Sweetie:
As a guy who has never been to a a spa before, I thought the environment was very open to both sexes. Since I had never been before, I was expecting a more fru-fru girly-type environment and was pleasantly surprised it was not. This is very encouraging for a guy who may have reservations about going to a spa.
As for the couples packages we received, it was very relaxing and affordable. In the past, I have had only one massage and it was ok. This massage and treatment encourages me to have another. It did not hurt and the massage therapist was very attentive to needs.
I did enjoy the couples massage, though I thought we would be closer together, like on commercials that I see. Other than that, I would do it again anytime at this location and with my sweetheart.
